Synopsis: A long time ago, thousands of worlds were connected together by a network of dimensional doors called portals. But on the Day of Partition, as if by some great unseen force, they all sealed shut -- permanently, or so it was thought. Seventeen centuries later, the long-forgotten portals have begun to reawaken... not that anybody has noticed yet.

When a weird-looking red-haired kid with conspicuously human ears is shoved through a portal by her father, she finds herself stranded in a city from another world. Scared, lonely, and bubbling with anger, she now has to start over from scratch in the run-down district of Market Square. But maybe it's a blessing in disguise -- with new friends, new family, and a new community, our hero might just find it in herself to become a whole new person, too. Oh, yeah -- it helps that she's magic.
